D16 is committed to making its website, communication channels, exhibition venues, events, and educational programs as accessible and barrier-free as possible. We strive to ensure that all audiences can access information and engage with our programs, regardless of their individual needs. This page will gradually highlight potential barriers and resources to support the participation of visitors and staff.

On-site help and assistance
Certified assistance dogs are welcome at all venues of D16.
Companions to visitors with certified mobility, sensory, cognitive, or communication needs are eligible to join the exhibition free of charge.
Our Accessibility Card facilitates entry to the exhibition and minimizes wait times during your visit. This card will be provided at our Welcome Center upon request and proof of eligibility.
Tickets
Guests with abilities that significantly compromise their attendance to exhibition are eligible for reduced admission. A statement of eligibility must be presented at our ticket counters (degree of disability over 50%). The Kassel Participation Card is eligible only in conjunction with a valid form of identification.
Exhibition Tours
D16 offers exhibition tours for visitors with diverse needs, led by trained art educators. Our tours include German Sign Language (DGS) and International Sign (Language) (IS). Please contact our visitor services directly for dates, inquiries, and reservations. Accessibility is valued through inclusive offerings and a range of pathways for participation. Further accessible programs will follow.
Sign Language
The website includes regularly updated videos in German Sign Language and International Sign (Language).
Easy Read
The Easy Read option provides information about D16, visitor information, and ticket sales in Easy Read. Easy Read texts about the exhibition venues and service information will be regularly updated.
Website barriers
All videos on the website are subtitled. The videos are available without audio description or full text alternative.
Several PDF files are not barrier-free.
Our newsletters are accessible in their web version while barriers may occur in e-mail formats.
